What is adaptive teaching?

Divecrew is the National Centre for Adaptive Teaching (Physically and Mentally Challenged) and the UK’s only Gold Star IDC – Instructor Development Centre for adaptive teaching. 90% of the professional team are adaptive instructors as well as PADI professionals. A large majority of the professional team are NVQ Level 2 certified on Understanding Autism and Mental Health Issues. Divecrew have the greatest number of Master Instructors for PADI and Adaptive Instructors in the country. You are in safe hands with Divecrew.

Adaptive teaching is used on a wide spectrum of students. It may be a diver who needs to get their confidence back, or can be used with a physically or mentally challenged student wanting to become a PADI diver.

Divecrew operates with individual students, schools and organisations as Divecrew believes scuba diving should be for everyone. Inclusive not exclusive.

Divecrew welcomes applications to join the professional TEAM from veterans and reservists. We support the Armed Forces Covenant.

At the highest level of adaptive teaching, Divecrew have Adaptive Instructor Trainers (the highest level possible) and work with young British Troops who have suffered life changing injuries through IED’s (Improvised Explosive Devices) whilst serving the country in Afghanistan and Iraq. Divecrew supports the true charity Deptherapy.

Divecrew have also worked with student divers with ADHD, Autism, Deaf, Partially Sighted and Multiple Sclerosis.

Some of the Divecrew Master Instructors are also Instructor Trainers for Deptherapy; recognised as world leaders in Adaptive Teaching.

Divecrew operates in pools and lakes in Aldershot, Alton, Ascot, Bracknell, Chepstow, Chesham, Cromhall, Crowthorne, Guildford, Slough, Vobster, Warfield, Windsor and Wraysbury. Serving Berkshire, Surrey, Hampshire, Middlesex and Chilterns.
